Above & Below: Class Practice

Today, we had a class with a practice element about taking pictures `Above and Below.` The purpose of the practice element was to teach us how to take low- and high-angle portraits and familiarize us with the settings. The settings we are discussing are aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.

In the lecture, we looked at the picture of Corrine Day and Terry O'Neill. My teacher also showed us an angled shot of the Rolling Stones looking down directly into the waivers through a photographer's lens. My teacher mentioned interlocking triangles, which lock perfectly within the image on the picture, which I had no idea about before. That's why that lesson was super interesting.

We went out on the campus. I went with Artemis to practice low and high-angle images. When we returned, we created contact sheets in Photoshop to create contact sheets. I clicked on file/ automate/ contact sheet, then we chose the file, and we created contact sheets.

This is my teacher, Miss Zoe. Shy is a day crawler (stalking people for pictures, as you see in the picture. Shy has this guilty look. The idea comes from the Night Crawler film "exploiting, deceiving, and manipulating those around" Gilroy(2014)

My recent photography class was engaging, mainly when we explored high and low-angle shots. Learning about settings like aperture and ISO was practical, especially when we applied them directly in our campus shoot with Artemis. The lecture was also excellent, particularly when we discussed famous photographers and specific composition techniques like interlocking triangles. Making contact sheets in Photoshop was a helpful skill, helping me see the collection of our day's shots all at once. Reflecting on our photos' EXIF data later helped me understand how different settings affect the images. Overall, it was a great blend of theory and practice.

  1. Please stop adding google image searches these are not references - you have some images here but you need to discuss the settings and put a final piece together on Pixlr
