Photography Project: Initial Ideas & Plan
My new project this term is to take ten pictures (portraits), and I need to find inspiration and develop the concept.
After a long thinking session, I have three concepts:
1. My first concept is to take natural portraits without a posed appearance, and my idea comes from Walker Evans as this artist once upon a time painted his camera in black and hid it so no one saw the camera and appeared without posing. and he also uses the extension for his trigger to shoot the pictures." In the late 1930s, Evans began bringing a hidden camera into the New York subway." Evans(1941)
I think I can do that, and nowadays, we have better equipment for hiding the camera and extending the trigger to shoot natural pictures. I could take the train to Nottingham and back and become like Evans for a day.
Below, I will show you some of his Walker works. "Many are Called, a 1966 publication by Walker Evans, explores the production of a 1940s subway project and the diverse individuals he photographed, revealing the numerous croppings and inscriptions that shaped the series." Keller(1993)
2. My second concept comes from Todd Hido. Once I came across his work and his unconventional techniques like "HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT" Krecik(2016) or taking pictures from inside the car or using natural light through the window when the room has to be in the right place at the right time "Haunting Atmosphere in His Images."" (Hido, 2000) The effects speak for themselves, so I think I could take some portraits with my models in different rooms at different times in other places using Unconventional sources of light and creating a Haunting atmosphere "in almost all his images, regardless of the tones, exposure level, or subject matter of his photographs" Bags(2021)

3. My third concept is pure technical portraits like my teacher suggest
I will read this book and try to get inside |Techniacal Photography, and maybe I will try this way
4. My last concept is natural light portraits. I will use a manual mode camera, natural light and a white wall, and the project will be called "The Way of the Class" I will take only half the face at eye level, and this is the concept :
